Admissions FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

  • MSOM is committed to selecting applicants who meet our mission, align with our values and who are an asset to the profession of osteopathic medicine. The Admissions Committee considers applicant's academic background, achievements, personal statement, Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) scores, letters of recommendation, health-related work or research and volunteer experiences.

  • Official transcripts must be sent directly to AACOMAS. MSOM does not accept official transcripts from applicants.

  • Two letters of recommendation are required. Preferably, one letter should come from an osteopathic physician (D.O.) or an allopathic physician (M.D.). The other letter should be from a premedical advisory committee member or a science faculty member with a terminal degree in a relevant science discipline, who is familiar with the applicant’s academic work and is affiliated with the institution where the applicant completed their bachelor’s degree.

  • Yes, you can submit your application before your MCAT scores are available, but the application will not be complete for review until the scores are on file.

  • AACOMAS Fee Waivers are limited and require applicants to first apply for the Fee Waiver through their AACOMAS portal. MSOM will waive the Secondary Application fee if the applicant has an approved AACOMAS fee waiver document.

  • After completing your AACOMAS application, continue to check your AACOMAS portal frequently to monitor the status of your application. View the Check Status tab at the top of the AACOMAS application dashboard frequently to determine if additional information is needed and to ensure all materials arrive (e.g., MCAT scores, all transcripts, all letters of reference). Ensure all transcripts arrive and your application is placed in Verified status. Contact AACOMAS if Verification is delayed or materials are missing. MSOM will review your application once it is placed in Verified status by AACOMAS. Qualified applicants will be invited to complete a Secondary Application and, if selected, will be invited for a virtual interview. Admission decisions will be made between 2-4 weeks after the interview.

  • If invited, students will participate in a virtual interview.

  • Admitted applicants must notify the Office of Admissions of their intention to enroll and pay the non-refundable enrollment deposit fee within a specified time period to secure their seat for Fall 2025 (Class of 2029).
