Mental Health Services

MSOM will offer its students confidential access to student-focused, culturally competent mental healthcare providers through Timelycare. The service is accessible 24 hours a day, every day of the year from all locations where MSOM students receive education. Information on how to access the service will be available in the student catalog.

Additional resources include:

  • Meritus Colleague Assistance Program: a 24x7 phone line for students and their family members. All counselors are employed by Meritus Medical Center and licensed in Maryland.
  • Meritus Crisis Center: an in-person mental health urgent care on the Meritus campus that is available for walk-in appointments from students and members of the public.
  • Meritus behavioral health: Meritus Medical Center has a plethora of confidential mental health services to offer our students through its behavioral health department. Our team of psychiatrists and mental health providers are here to help you through a comprehensive plan of care for your mental health. Physical Health

MSOM will provide students with access to diagnostic, preventive and therapeutic health services accessible in all locations where students receive education from our institution. This is done through local providers, hospitals, urgent care facilities, and telehealth options wherever our students are located – whether it is near our main campus in Hagerstown, or during clinical rotations in distant locations.

Students are required to have health insurance coverage throughout all four years of medical school.  Before initial registration and the beginning of each academic year, all students must provide proof of health insurance.

Students may obtain insurance through a variety of options including insurance through parents, spouses or health exchanges.  To ensure students have access to a comprehensive plan, the Meritus School of Osteopathic Medicine offers a student health insurance plan.

All students must enroll in the school sponsored health plan or provide proof of other acceptable health coverage.  Dependents are also eligible to be enrolled in the student health plan.  Adequate insurance must cover students in other states.  The Office of the Dean will oversee the verification process for adequacy of the student health insurance.

Details of the Meritus School of Osteopathic Medicine health insurance requirements can be found on the website at MSOM.org.
