Neal Young

Dr. Young was born and raised in Portland, OR. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Reed College with a particular focus on Psychobiology and Psychopharmacology. His undergraduate thesis examined “Aging and tasks of emotional memory known to involve the amygdala.” Prior to medical school he worked at the Oregon Primate Research Center studying brain aging and the influence of ovarian hormones on cognition and Nonhuman primate models of retinal disease. He matriculated as an MD/PhD student and received his Medical Degree at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine in Chicago, IL. 

His post-graduate training includes a Transitional Internship year at Legacy Health Systems in Portland. OR where he also served as the Resident Representative of the Educational Committee. His Diagnostic Radiology residency was at the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY and he served as the Resident Representative to the Imaging Sciences/Emergency Medicine committee to facilitate optimal workflow and communication between the two departments. Dr. Young went on to fellowship training in Interventional Radiology at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University of Medicine in St. Louis, MO.

Dr. Young is a board-certified Diagnostic and Interventional Radiologist at St. Lawrence Radiology performing high volume remote interpretation of all Radiology modalities and onsite Interventional Radiology services. He has previously been Chief of Radiology and Radiation Safety Officer at Wyoming County Community Hospital and worked at Radiology Consultants of Lynchburg.

Prior to working at MSOM he has been a preceptor for 4th year medical students in Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology for the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. He loves interacting with students and the joy of teaching the next generation of physicians.

Dr. Young currently lives in Lynchburg, VA and in his limited free time enjoys photography, scuba diving, cycling, paintball, yoga and travel.
